But I promise you tonight I will be on my best behavior as will Marcus and we will charm them into releasing they have no reason to be afraid of us or for you and I will also be honest and answer any questions that have truthfully so they feel comfortable approaching me with any concerns they may have and will hopefully, as a result, feel at ease here. We will also tell them together about our plan for me to retire so they know that you won't be exposed to this life forever which will hopefully put their minds at ease and prove how much I love you." Stefan replied, saying exactly the right thing to relieve Lilly's 

stress. 

"I love you so much, you are always so supportive of me and know just what to say to make me feel better," Lilly said as she leaned on her tiptoes and kissed Stefan passionately.

"Thank you, Marcus, since your being so well mannered make sure it stays that way, we need to make a good impression on Lilly's friends and make them feel welcome," Stefan warned. 

"Don't worry Stefan, I plan on making a very good impression on Lilly's SINGLE friend." Marcus winked 

"They are both single Marcus so which one will that be?" Lilly 

teased. 

"Well my obvious preference is your female friend Abby...since I am attracted to women but if Matt is as handsome as you claim and as charming as you Lilly and Stefan is generous enough to keep his expensive wine following, who knows? There's a first time for everything." Marcus joked making Lilly laugh. 

"I mean it, Marcus, best behavior and keep that thing in your trousers! The last thing we need is a broken heart causing upset and ruining the relationship between Lilly's friends and us." Stefan once again warned. 

"Thank you, Stefan, for trying to look out for me by trying to make sure Abby doesn't get hurt but you really don't need to worry about that, Abby is a big girl and a strong woman if you were to worry about anyone I would worry about Marcus- she will have him wrapped around her little finger by the end of dinner," Lilly said making Marcus look at her skeptically. 

"Well, we will find out soon I suppose I think that's them here..." Stefan said as he heard a knock at the door and the butler answer. 

"Hey Albert, we are here to see...OH LILLY! " Abby squealed as she ran past the butler and into Lilly's open arms. "It's so good to see you, wow this house is amazing and complete with its very own Albert the butler ...just like 

Batman. Which is fitting really since Stefan like Batman is a billionaire

and we can all eat as I am starving! " Matt teased as he gently nudged Abby

"I suppose it's only fair Stefan has a friend for support since Abby and I 

intended on interrogating him tonight to see if he's good enough for you." 

Matt teased - only half-joking.

Hearing the deep masculine voice Abby turned to look at the stranger it came from curiously and when she did her gaze locked in wonder with the most handsome man she had ever seen. 

The man in front of her was well over six foot, he had broad manly

Dinner was going really well, Stefan and Matt were engrossed in deep conversation about Matt's Marshal Arts and football whilst Abby and Marcus seemed to be locked in a flirtatious battle of wills to see who would succumb to the others charms first. Lilly was looking around the table 

observing her two friends and she was overjoyed to see they were getting 

along so well with Stefan and Marcus who although she had known for only a short amount of time she had come to love just as strongly as she loved Matt and Abby, with Marcus being another brother like figure just like Matt was to her and Stefan- he was her soulmate. 

"Sorry Lil we are leaving you out," Matt said as he put his arm around her in a brotherly manner and Stefan smiled at her apologetically. 

"That's okay, I am just really glad you're getting on so well and both of you are behaving... especially you Matt I was expecting you to go into 'protective brother' mode and threaten Stefan by now," Lilly teased. 

"He's a good guy Lil and he obviously loves you so what's not to like? Besides dinner was so delicious I thought I would wait to see if dessert was just as good before I threatened him in case he kicked me out." Matt joked making Stefan and Lilly roar with laughter.

"And you're a smooth talker Stefan, " Matt replied and all three of them continued their banterful conversation leaving Abby and Marcus to their own private conversation since they seemed to be a good match for each other and happy with each others company. 

"You remind me of Belle in beauty and the beast with your beauty and in that yellow silk dress. " Marcus purred as she leaned in closer. 

"I suppose that makes you the beast? " Abby whispered leaning in so close Marcus could smell her intoxicating perfume.

"I am sorry to tell you this Boss...but there's been an attack. It's your uncles...they are dead." Aiden said hesitantly and in a sad tone. 

Everyone at the table turned to look at Stefan with expressions mixed with horror and sympathy and Stefan took a few minutes to compose his emotions before he replied, "What happened, and do we know who's responsible? 

"Yes Boss, a bomb went off both at the Marconi manor in Italy and the Genovese penthouse in New york. Your uncles second in NewYork managed to track one of the men responsible down and he is questioning still but he managed to find out he's Russian and there's more Boss..." Aiden said unsure if he should continue the conversation in the present company. "Continue," Stefan replied emotionlessly. 

"He also found out the Russian's had private details about your Uncles schedules and security measures that they could only get from someone inside of either of your uncle's organizations or ..." 

"Ours." Stefan finished for him and Aiden nodded solemnly. " Lilly I am sorry but I need to deal with this.." 

"Gol understand, I will see our guests out," Lilly replied as she 

squeezed Stefan's hand supportive and kissed him on the cheek. 

"Matt, Abby please excuse me..." Stefan said as he stood and felt the 

hall and Marcus quickly grabbed Abby's hand and kissed the back of it and 

waved at Matt before he followed Stefan to his study where they prepared 

for war.
