Chapter 329 I've Never Seen a Woman Sleep This Deeply!

*I asked you a question, David." Caroline spoke again. "Why aren't you answering me?"

It took David a while to snap out of it.

His expression was dark, but he was clearly trying to suppress his emotions. "A bath? You were sleeping?"

"Yeah. What else would I be doing in the bathtub?"

David's face darkened even more. "Then why was the water red?"

"I used rose essential oil," Caroline said matter-of-factly, picking up the bottle beside her, "Look, see for

yourself.

David's expression could only be described as a storm brewing-thick, ominous clouds ready to unleash lightning and thunder at any moment.

He finally understood what had happened.

He had misunderstood. Completely.

How ridiculous. He had terrified himself for nothing.

Caroline, this woman... She valued the twins in her belly more than anything. How could she possibly bring herself to die?

All he had done was humiliate her in public and record a video-hardly enough to break her. She could handle it.

His concern quickly morphed into cold fury, Caroline suddenly felt even more uneasy. She avoided David's gaze, her eyes darting around the room.

"You took a bath in bright red water..... and then fell asleep? David ground out through clenched teeth. "Hmm?"

"Yeah... Is that a problem?"

David narrowed his eyes. "And that didn't seem a little... gruesome to you?"

"What's gruesome about it? The rose scent is lovely-rich and fragrant," Caroline scoffed. Then, deliberately, she asked, "Wait... don't tell me you thought I-

David didn't answer. Instead, he took a sudden step forward.

Caroline instinctively backed away. "Hey, hey, what are you-ah!"

He yanked her straight into his arms, his grip firm as he caught her wrist. His face remained ice-cold as he began inspecting her body.

Her coat slipped to the floor. Beneath it... she was completely bare. But David wasn't in the mood to appreciate her figure. He was seething.

And yet, all of this was in his own head-it had nothing to do with Caroline. He had no right to lash out at her, so all he could do was stew in his own frustration, his presence radiating cold fury.

Caroline tried to cover herself, but David held both her wrists in one hand, rendering her defenseless.

She bit her lip, her face flushed with a mix of embarrassment and anger.

David meticulously checked her, especially around her major arteries. Only after confirming she had not wounds did he finally let go.

He had been completely mistaken. There wasn't a single cut on her. There was no way the water had been

stained with blood.

"Unbelievable..." Caroline huffed, quickly snatching a towel from the rack and wrapping herself tightly. "David, do you seriously have nothing better to do?"

She leaned against the wall, swallowing nervously.

David stood tall, his gaze deep and intense, as if he was trying to pull her in.

"I've never seen a woman sleep this deeply," he said through gritted teeth, barely restraining himself. "You didn't hear me calling your name?"

Caroline truly hadn't.

She had been exhausted, completely drained. She hadn't stirred until his tear fell onto her eyelashes, slowly bringing her back to consciousness.

She lifted her chin and answered defiantly, "What does it matter to you if I sleep

deeply? You haven't set foot in the Ellison residence for a whole month-so why the sudden interest in showing up tonight?"
